Jesus is Lord
This study seeks to arrest the attention of Turning Point to the fact that Jesus IS LORD. Kurios means – lord, authority, ruler. It reflects the identity of someone who is in charge. Being the Lord is Jesus’ identity. The New Testament announces: Jesus Christ is Lord, Jesus is Lord, Christ the Lord. Being the Lord is who Jesus is, but it is also a title He has earned with the right to fulfill its privilege. His obedience, sacrifice, and resurrection gives Him an earned authority “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” His right of rule has been earned in history, in creation, in salvation’s plan, in our personal life. The fact that Jesus is Lord must confront the self-styled version of Christianity that circulates today…one where we are in charge, where we empower ourselves to pick and choose which parts of Christ’s authority works for us. Our faith family needs and deserves a renewed opportunity to learn about Christ’s lordship and to align our lives with His authority.
